ANDONG HAHOE VILLAGE(UNESCO World Heritage)
Andong-si
Andong, the central city of Gyeongsangbuk-do, Korea, is called “the most Korean town in Korea.” The whole city has a quaint atmosphere, culminating in Hahoe Village, which has been selected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Also, as the nickname “City of Museums” suggests, there are about 20 museums and exhibition halls. In addition to the relics, Hahoe Byeolsingut Tallori (Mask Dance Drama of Hahoe), which has a long history of 800 years, is a representative attraction of Andong.
Andong tour area can be divided into the Hahoe Village course, the Dosanseowon Confucian Academy course, the Bongjeongsa Temple course, the southeastern region course, and the downtown Andong course. Hahoe Village, which has an outstanding view of the Nakdonggang River, is Korea’s representative folk village, visited by Queen Elizabeth of the United Kingdom and President Bush of the United States. Hahoe Byeolsingut Tallori, which was selected as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, is also performed here. In Dosanseowon Confucian Academy and Byeongsanseowon Confucian Academy, you can get a glimpse of the culture of classical scholars who enjoyed arts and learning. Yekki Village, filled with cute paintings, and Woryeonggyo Bridge, famous for its fantastic night view, are popular tourist attractions. For accommodation in Andong, we recommend staying in a hanok, where you can experience a night in a traditional-style house. A stay in a hanok that is hundreds of years old, is the perfect experience in tradition and culture of the Joseon dynasty.
